Owner Michelle called complaining about a plumbing leak. The plumber attended and confirmned that a faulty plumbing connection lead to water leaking down the inside of the wall and onto the basement floor. According to the owner, the carpet was saturated and moldy. I attended at 2:30 pm on Aug 10, 2009. I observed that the basement floor was wet from the front wall and along the east side wall for approximately 14' and 3/4 across the width of the room at the bottom of the basement stairs. The owner explained that the carpet was removed and discarded on the weekend because it was very moldy. She said the plumber said, "You should get rid of this carpet as soon as possible." I also observed that the baseboard and the tackless strip was water damaged along the east wall approximately 15' from the front wall and along the whole front wall of the rec room. There was mold on the baseboard and on the drywall in the corner between the window and the hydro panel. The mold that was visible on the surface of the drywall was over an area of approximately 2 sq'. The owner was running a dehumidifier at the time of my inspection. The sod was installed in May but basement window screens have not been supplied to date. The sliding doors for the entry closet & the basement bedroom and the mirror for the basement bath have not been supplied or installed yet either.
